The Death of Titanic

One the most revered ocean liners of her time, the Titanic stretched a length of 882 feet and 9 inches. Contained in her body were some of the most luxurious amenities of the early 1900s. It was thought to be indestructible as it towered with a height of 175 feet. But on the night of April 14, 1912, its starboard side was scrapped by an iceberg which led to its sinking.

The sinking of the pride of the White Star Line Company (Titanic) can be attributed to many factors. First, the crew in the Titanic failed to heed many early warnings of icebergs in the vicinity. Second, the ship was not designed with an ?icebreaker? hull making it vulnerable to even the smallest icebergs. Third, the vessel was sailing without the aid of the moon because April 14 and 15 fell on the two days before newmoon. The third factor is thought to be the most crucial of all the issues as it diminished the crew?s ability to navigate safely on the hazardous North Atlantic.
